The project aims at developing an EU new generation medium range BLOS Land Battlefield missile systems family. The output is intended to be integrated on an extensive variety of platforms (ground-to-ground and air-to-ground) and to provide integrated and autonomous target designation capability. The project includes joint training and formation aspects. Dedicated “users’ club” is envisioned develop a common European doctrine on BLOS firing.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The EU BLOS Land Battlefield missile systems family is expected to be developed with an EU design authority enabling joint development and implementation of further evolutions over time, and without any control or restriction by non-EU entities with regard to the operational use. Therefore, the EU BLOS Land Battlefield missile systems family aims to provide EU with an autonomous ground-effect combat capacity and thus to guarantee the ability for EU to operate when and where necessary, hence enhancing the EU strategic autonomy. It will lead to a sound operational advantage in the field of mounted and dismounted Land Battlefield Missile Systems. The developed capability shall be resilient to potential cyber-attacks. Moreover, this joint EU project will ensure the interoperability of EU Armed Forces in operations, and the harmonization of equipment in the different configurations.

OBJECTIVES/PRODUCTS

The objective of this project is to develop an EU new generation medium range BLOS Land Battlefield missile systems family. This envisioned EU BLOS mounted and dismounted Land Battlefield missile systems family is expected to integrate an extensive variety of platforms (ground-to-ground and air-to-ground) and to provide integrated and autonomous target designation capability. The project includes joint training and formation aspects and leads to setting up a dedicated “users’ club” which could develop a common European doctrine on BLOS firing.
