On 20 October 2024, the PESCO project Cyber Rapid Response Teams and Mutual Assistance in Cyber Security (#CRRT), which develops specialised teams to respond to cyber incidents, has completed its mission after a deployment to monitor the Moldovan Presidential elections and EU referendum.
The CRRT supported the Moldovan counterparts to assess vulnerabilities, monitor critical systems, and ensure the cyber integrity of the elections. Experts from eight EU Member States – Belgium, the Netherlands, Croatia, Romania, Poland, Austria, Latvia, and Lithuania – contributed to strengthening Moldova’s cyber resilience during this crucial moment.
Established in 2018 as one of PESCO’s initial projects, CRRT has reinforced cyber defence, supporting Ukraine and the European Union Training Mission (#EUTM) in Mozambique in recent years.
The latest deployment of two teams in Moldova stands as CRRT’s most extensive deployment to date.
