The objective is to establish a common hub to facilitate the exchange of classified governmental imagery at European level between MS as well as with EU entities, taking full benefit of the EUSatCen in order to enhance its capabilities to fulfil its core mission.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The SBEO capabilities contribute to the intelligence picture at strategic, operational and tactical levels and are an essential source of information for effective decision-making. To reach the needed situational awareness, including SBEO products, the relevant OHQ/FHQ or the MPCC in Brussels may rely on information based on Member States’ support to the mission/operation and/or on the use of other assets (e.g. EU Satellite Centre tasking).

The project aims at the establishment of a federated system for classified imagery allowing to securely share EU imageries between MS and EU users via EU SatCen at up to EU-Secret level.

OBJECTIVES/PRODUCTS

Establish a common hub to facilitate the exchange of classified governmental imagery at European level between MS as well as with EU entities, taking full benefit of the EU SatCen in order to enhance its capabilities to fulfill its core mission.

Short-term objective: increase exchange and provision of classified governmental imagery through EU SatCen. Mid-term objective: develop guaranteed access to classified products of Space Based Earth Observation (SBEO) systems through EU SatCen; create an EU shared catalogue / archive of classified governmental imagery / products through EU SatCen (EU shared Satellite Imagery – EU SSI). Long-term objective: create a secure platform at EU SatCen that enables the exchange of Governmental Imagery and IMINT-products between Governmental Imagery providing MS and SatCen as well as between pMS.
