The project aims to provide EU’s Helicopter Aircrews with specialized flight and tactics training within a “Hot-and-High” environment against new, transnational and multidimensional threats. Moreover, it provides a unique venue for additional training and evaluation of aircrews. It is eligible not only for military crews but also for EU civil aircrews, in order to cover peacetime operations such us forest fight firing and police air patrols, in high altitude areas.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Helicopter Hot and High Training is a project that will establish a high-level Course, which will be taking advantage of the geographic features and the proven experience of HAavn, IΟΤ provide military helicopter pilots skills and knowledge necessary overcome the challenges of a Hot High environment flight.

OBJECTIVES/PRODUCTS

The Helicopter Hot and High Training is a project whose main objective is τo provide EU’s Helicopter Aircrews specialized flight and tactical training, while operating in a “Hot-and-High” environment against known and new threats.

Additional Goals:

  • To upgrade operational readiness at multinational level, as promoted by the increasing complexity of each mission.
  • To promote pilot, crew, team and company training, while conducting flights under stressful environmental conditions encountered in a hot and high mountainous terrain (up to 8.000 ft), with high gross weight conditions, mainly focused on Nap-of-the-Earth (NOE) flight profile.
  • To increase situational awareness, while conducting Day and Night air recce, troops transportation, air assault, special ops training flights against a simulated high threat environment, while operating from unprepared surfaces/fields in a Hot and High environment.
  • To promote flight training, to additional (peacetime) tasks, such as SAR, CASEVAC, Personnel Recovery, while operating in in a hot and high environment.
  • To extract fruitful results, while observing individual pilot, crew and multi crew cooperation and performance, during a hot and high flight profile.
  • To monitor and measure the fatigue experienced during flight in a hot and high profile.
  • To implement the research products of the H3 training, regarding helicopter tactics to the needs of each individual participating nation.
